Suspension and control arm bushings are one of the most important components that determine how your car will handle. If your bushings are worn or deteriorated you may notice several undesirable characteristics. Excessive vibration, clunking noises and overall poor and imprecise steering are the most common side effects of a worn bushing. It goes without saying that if your car's steering is compromised safety will also be a concern.

Worn bushing compared to a new polyurethane bushingReplacing suspension and control arm bushings not only keeps your vehicle handling properly they can also provide some performance gains. By upgrading to a harder polyurethane bushing over a rubber bushing, you will stiffen the suspension. Therefore increasing your cornering capabilities and overall stability. Braking and stopping distance will also increase as there is less movement in the suspension system. Overall, a harder bushing will keep the suspension geometry correct and help insure maximum tire contact on the road.  A polyurethane bushing will also be more durable, withstanding the degradation that comes from high temperatures, road salt, and wear. In race applications the bushing maybe substituted entirely with solid metal components.

If your interest is comfort and a smoother ride, then the better choice is a rubber bushing. The softer material will absorb more of the shock and vibration then its polyurethane counterpart. You'll also get the benefit of a quieter cabin with a OE rubber bushing. Most vehicles are equipped from the factory with these type of bushings.

Energy Suspension is synonymous with aftermarket bushings. Take a look behind the scenes at their plant to see what goes into to make these high quality components.

American Speed Center carry's a full range of suspension parts and bushings for domestic, import and truck performance.  For front and rear control arms, trailing arms, shock mounts, rack and pinion mounts, motor mount inserts, sway bar and end links and transmission mounts we can find the right bushing for your application.

REsized edge evolution CTS programmer OBD II port plugThere are a number of benefits to upgrading your car or truck's ECU. If you're looking for improved performance, better fuel efficiency, more torque or cleaner emissions an ECU tuner or programmer can help you achieve these goals. Manufacture's are often very conservative in the stock tune of the vehicle. They're trying to optimize for a wide range of demands, driving types and fuel quality. Obviously, this is not the ideal for performance oriented driving. By purchasing an ECU programmer or tuner you can easily over come these limitations. Often times an ECU tune will be needed because other modifications have been made to the vehicle. Exhaust systems, intake, or engine upgrades can change the air/fuel ratio making the the benefits of these modifications go unnoticed if the ECU fuel map is not corrected.

Today's modern engines can have their ECU program maps updated through the vehicles OBD port. Many systems for modern vehicles, add a tuning box to the system to allow switching between the different programs. This is especially beneficial for truck and diesel performance applications, where there may be various demands, such as increased torque for towing capabilities or increased fuel efficiency. The boxes will allow for easy switching between these very different programs. High end versions of these tuners, such as the models from EDGE Products, Bully Dog, SCT and others provide visual feed back of temperatures, horsepower, torque and offer program switching via a touch screen display.

American Speed Center carries a wide range of tuners and programmers, most are available in just one day and our prices are competitive with the large online retailers. If you have questions about the right programmer for your car or truck, contact us today.

AN fittings

When you're ready to plumb your race car, muscle car, import or classic, see American Speed Center for all your needs. Even though hose ends, fittings and adapters look like simple components, they are a vital part of your build. You want to ensure that your fittings are of the highest durability, long lasting and made to perform. For instance braided steel lines are made to resist abrasions and corrosion and are a great upgrade for your brake lines. They will also resist expansion in the line giving you much better feel and performance. Racers may be looking for a lightweight hose, which we can offer in a nylon coating weighing in less then it's steel braided counterpart. There are several different finishes available as well, to match the look of your vehicle.

We carry over 200 unique AN fittings, hose ends, NPT to AN adapters in stock and have access to 1000s more that are available in 1-2 business days. We also carry hoses, fuel pumps, filters, regulators, injectors, and carburetors for any project you're working on.

Brands that we carry include, but aren't limited to:
Fragola Performance Systems, Russell, Aeroquip, Earls, DeatschWerks, Holley Performance Products, Injector Dynamics, Edelbrock, Aeromotive Fuel Systems, MagnaFuel, Walbro Performance Fuel Systems, Fass Fuel Systems, Goodridge LTD, Kinsler Fuel Injection, AEM Performance Electronics, FAST - Fuel Air Spark Technology.

Our team of professionals makes the moving of your cars and goods a hassle free experience. We can arrange for pick up, storage and transport of your items.

We have seen a lot of interesting items go into our containers.

brushCarThis past month we shipped this 1911 Brush Car. The chassis and the axles on this horseless carriage were constructed of oak, hickory or rock maple, air dried and oil-soaked - and suspension were a revolutionary system of coil springs on each wheel, although they were under tension, not compression as was nearly always afterward the custom. The wooden axles were said to contribute to riding comfort, being somewhat more flexible and resilient than steel.  Friction shock absorbers and ball joints in its suspension were standard.  You can find out more information on this historic car here.

Our containers often contain classics like this 1965 fastback Mustang. The vehicle that introduced us to a new class of car, the "pony car." When released the Mustangs long hood and short deck proved to be very popular and inspired a lot of competition and imitation. Truly, a landmark in American sports car development the first generation Mustang is an iconic American muscle car.

In this instance, we arranged pick up for our customer after they purchased the vehicle online. Our services provide a complete solution for moving the items from US to Norway destinations.
